Let Someone Else Do the Driving: Transit
One of the easiest ways to go car free is riding transit. ART, Metrorail and Metrobus offer lots of stops and stations that can connect you to points all across Arlington and the DC area. And since you won't be the one driving, you can spend your travel time working, reading or relaxing. To learn the basics about how to ride transit, check out our Transit How-To Guide. To find out which buses or trains you need to catch (and what times you can catch them), use Metro's Trip Planner. If you know which bus to take, you can view schedules online.
Today's Goal: Try riding a bus or the Metro. If the nearest stop is too far to walk to, consider biking or driving to it and riding the rest of the way.
Today's Advanced Goal: If you try transit and think it will work for you, buy a SmarTrip card – it lets you pay fares for many of the area's transit providers electronically, so you don't have to worry about carrying cash.
