Car-Free Diet Celebrates Car-Free Day

September 23, 2011

People around the world celebrated Car-Free Day on September 22.  Arlington's Car-Free Diet sponsored a Car-Free Day event to thank and recognize our retail partners who have embraced the Car-Free Diet for their employees and customers. Our 301 retail partners have generously allocated space in their businesses for point-of-purchase displays with a customized transit map, bus schedules and bike/walk information to make it easier for everyone to try alternatives to driving alone.

Three outstanding partners were honored for their efforts in 2011:

In fact, the owner even entered the 30-day Skeptics Challenge. And he went a step further by promoting the Skeptics Challenge on his billboard on Wilson Boulevard.

With their Car-Free Diet display positioned prominently across from the cash register, employees frequently direct customers to the materials and even use the brochure information to help them find where they need to go. They also sell bike lights and reflectors.

Pentagon Centre is a large retail destination venue that draws thousands of people every day. Incredibly responsive and proactive, they provide Car-Free Diet with opportunities throughout the year to exhibit and participate in their sponsored events.

Thanks to everyone who attended and all our Car-Free Diet partners for making Arlington car free everyday. And on the Car-Free Diet, you can eat cake!
